The Pros And Cons Of Banned Books

There were at least 6,364 challenges of certain books to be banned in the years from 1990 – 2000. Book banning should be allowed because, some books may teach young children messages, content and materials that they aren’t ready to learn or know about, and even though some people think it violates the First Amendment. The reason society bans books is because they do not want children to know about sexual content, offensive or coarse language, and things that go against some religious beliefs. These are some reasons society decides to ban books. Part of why society bans certain books is because of sexual content. First of all, the main reason these books are banned from children is because they are way too young to understand this sexual content. If they read about it they will ask have to which parents answer questions. This will make children know about things to earlier than they should and will talk about it with their friends. So the word will continue to spread until every child knows about it. Another part to this is the descriptions in the story. This is along the lines of the f-bomb, a-word, and the d-word. These censor words are part of the reason why we need to ban books. According to the article Schools and Censorship: Banned Books “1,427 cases were challenged due to material considered to use offensive language.” These books are prime examples of why kids today know so many swear words. Because the read a book that they are too young to read and learn these things. Then when they learn them, since they are young and don’t know any better, they use the words until they have told everyone they know. Like friends, family, and even some strangers. They will be told to stop using them and they might, but they still remember the words because they learned and used the word so
