In favor of the automated trucks, there are many good reasons. For one, they eliminate most human flaws. When a driver is on the road, for instance, they can only drive for a certain amount of hours before they become exhausted and are legally made to stop driving to avoid accidents. With the automated trucks, the only time one would need to stop is to either refuel or perform maintenance. These trucks would be working just short of twenty-four hours a day, as they do not need to sleep or rest. For a truck, optimal fuel efficiency, as the article states, is just around forty-five miles per hour. A human driver will drive much faster than this, as they are limited to only about half a day before they must stop. Some might say that going only forty-five miles an hour would make these trucks terrible when it comes to delivery time, I would disagree. With only eleven hour days, a human driver would need to speed at roughly ninety miles per hour to arrive at the same time as a self-driving truck would going forty-five for twenty-four hours. This does not include, of course, meals eaten, gas stops, and other breaks taken during the day that are necessary for a human driver. These same automated trucks could even further save money by streamlining their trucks in a bumper to bumper line down the high way. By collaborating truck schedules with other companies, self-driving trucks could all become streamlined and
