To add on, they have a lack of funds which leads to limited materials for every child. It is also unfortunate yet understandable that the school is losing many students. According to Linnell Wright, one of the teachers' who has worked at Camden High for six years, said, "six hundred children enter ninth grade, by eleventh grade we have about 300..." (Page 110). It is also very unfortunate that the children who do want to learn, are very bright, and have the chance to go to a four-year college, do not get the same opportunity as they do in the suburbs for advanced classes to prepare them for college because there are no funds or facilities to do…

The most serious problems at Marlboro Middle School is that people feel left out of a certain group, people disrespecting each other, and stress. The first issue is that people feel left out which is one problem in our world that cannot be fully solved, but at Marlboro Middle School we can start including people from around our school and include them to feel safe in our school environment. Another issue is that people disrespect each other sometimes on purpose, others unintentionally. One way to help students at Marlboro Middle School to prevent getting into trouble from discourtesy is to think about how they would feel if that were to be said to themselves. Lastly, a common issue at our school is stress.…

The passing of prop 13 back in 1978 resulted in a lot of unintended causes for the school system. Some people felt indifferent about voting for the prop, with their reasoning being that they do not have any children. We need to be looking at the bigger picture though, regardless if those thirty something year olds do not have kids it will affect them in fifteen years when these children are sent out to the work field to attend them. The impact of socieeconomic status and poverty in the American education is tremendous and really cannot be missed. “In California right now, the average cost to support a prisoner for one year is 27,000 dollars, we have a little under 6,000 to support a student for a year” (“The Merrow Report: First to Worst”).…

I’m sure someone has asked them self what it would be like to go to a whole new school at one point in their life, especially if they did not like their school much. I certainly had, but I most definitely not expecting to. Going from a private school like Jackson Academy to a small public school like Puckett High School was a big change, and there were many contrasts between the two schools. The three most important differences between Jackson Academy were the size, dress code, and education. Jackson Academy was very different from Puckett.…

Stop Saying That the Public Schools in North Carolina Are Awful There are always teenagers complaining about the certain things they do not like about their schools; for example, if their next class is far away from the one they are now, if the school’s bus is late almost every day, or for what reason do they have to go to school if they do not want? I understand not everybody in North Carolina likes the way in how the public schools in this state work, but if we focus more on their good side like their installations, services, and educational system, we will find how wonderful these schools are. First, the installations of the public schools in North Carolina are not as bad as many of all us think. As a foreign student, I have had the opportunity to see the differences between the public schools in Mexico City and those in North Carolina, and I have found that the ones in this state are awesome.…

Malo does not like the school at all because he believes it looks like a jail and that the students look like they are “on strong meds.” This school is definitely not like normal schools to Malo because everyone calls the teachers by their first names, none of the teachers look like teachers, and “there’s a dog, Max, that lazes around” (Asante 198). Just like Malo, I had trouble getting used to my new school in North Carolina. I mostly had trouble getting used to the school because it was ancient and the staff and students were not what I was used to. The students talked with heavy southern accents and the staff was old as dirt.…

If at the end of my second day of school at Hill Crest, you were to ask me “Hey, what’s middle school like?” . I probably would have said that it was breeze, I was loving having more than one teacher and having that tiny little four minute breather in between classes. As far as the difficulty in my classes I wasn't having a problem at all. But, If you were to ask that same question now my answer might be a tad different. My response to your question would probably sound a little bit like this ; I really like it, but sometimes it gets on my nerves when i'm on one side of the building and have to go all the way to the other side and get my stuff for the next class, that little four minute period is absolute chaos now that I have different supplies…

Let’s start with the students, I started 7th grade with the sophomores at Northwest now, and when I transferred in middle school I was terrified then, it’s like 20x worse at Northwest. Most of the students have no respect for the staff, and you will often hear about students and staff fighting. Not only are they disrespectful to the staff they are disrespectful to visitors as well. When our softball team traveled to play their softball team, I can’t even list how…
