The intriguing question is, “In the cases of patients in the terminal phase, are we allowed to accelerate death?” (Mihaela). Assisted Suicide mean the patient voluntarily takes medicine that will provoke death in order to end the pain produced by an illness (Mihaela).Although Assisted Suicide carries multiple factors that everyone could benefit from, there are many disadvantages that should be taken into consideration. Assisted Suicide may be beneficial for patients with terminal illnesses; although, the decision is very difficult to determine.

Some patient’s injuries are not attended with medical treatment, but with psychological and physical therapy. People with medical conditions that can be dealt with therapy will consider death an option more than they would consider therapy an options (Haerens). Assisted suicide can trigger people, who still have multiple resources that can act as a cure for their injury or illness, to consider death as their most effective solution. In fact, ninety percent of patients with terminal illnesses have the mentality of overcoming the pain, while only five to ten percent of patients request Assisted Suicide (South Australian Voluntary Euthanasia Society). The percent of patients who request Assisted Suicide is not a large percent. Assisted Suicide could precipitate the ninety percent to decrease predominantly. For terminal illnesses, not only does the attitude matter, but also the medical discoveries involving that illness. Medicine, along with technology, frequently evolves over time.
