The Pros And Cons Of Assault Weapons

Imagine students cowering in fear at the sight of a crazed gunman, teachers contemplating putting their lives on the line for the safety of their students. Imagine the stolid stare of someone, fueled by insanity, unable and unwilling to differentiate right from wrong. Gun ownership should be tightly controlled because they are dangerous weapons, assault weapons are unnecessary, and more guns doesn’t always equal more safety. First, people argue that guns are wholesome tools used for sport. This is a terrible misunderstanding of the history of guns. These were not designed for anything wholesome, but to be deadly weapons used in military battles. Gunpowder was invented by the Chinese to treat skin infection, but quickly became a tool used by the military in bombs, mines, and other deadly weapons. Gunpowder was lodged into a bamboo chute and lit to launch flames and shrapnel at their enemies. Even if a person should be allowed to own a gun, there is virtually no reason to own a semi- or fully- automatic assault weapons. If you can’t aim to the point that you have to use the spray-and-pray method of shooting in an emergency, you are going to cause collateral damage and possibly harm another civilian. Besides that, this amount of power can make it harder to control the amount of fires shot. If you accidentally fire a shot at a civilian from a regular pistol, it can be controlled, but if you hold the trigger down in the dark until you can see it’s your own spouse or child on the receiving end of your AK-47, there’s no coming back from a mistake like
