Steroids positive or negative? Statistics show that there are approximately 3 million individuals in the US who use anabolic steroid. This means that the number if steroid users make up to about 1% of the country’s total population. It is a proven or well-known fact that the use of steroids (anabolic) can improve an individual’s ability to perform certain athletic activities. This version of the male hormone can promote muscle development, making it easier for athletes to build their strength. Also, these steroids are used by body builders to enhance their performance. But what are anabolic steroids? Anabolic steroids are synthetic variations of the male sex hormone testosterone. There is a proper term for these compounds and its called anabolic-androgenic steroids. “Anabolic” refers to muscle building, and “androgenic” refers to increased male sex characteristics. Doctors or health care providers can prescribe steroids to treat hormonal issues, such as delayed puberty. Also, steroids can treat diseases that cause muscle loss such as AIDS and cancer. Anabolic steroids are primarily used by bodybuilders, athletes, and fitness "buffs" who claim steroids give them a competitive advantage and/or improve their physical performance. Which in turn it does it also harms the takers body. Many body builders and professional athletes use steroids to increase lean body mass, strength and aggressiveness. Steroids are also believed to reduce recovery time between workouts. In taking these steroids it makes it possible for people to train harder and thereby further improve strength and endurance. There are also some people who are not athletes who also take steroids to increase their endurance, muscle size and strength, and reduce body fat. It can help cancer patients in many ways and also help people who are prescribed steroids and if they use it they right way, which won’t cause much harm to the body. Steroids help the body by increasing recovery time in individuals dramatically. Steroids also help more than just cancer patients. “Teriparatide” is a steroid that is used to treat “Osteoporosis”. Osteoporosis is a medical condition in which the bones become brittle and fragile from loss if tissue, typically as a result of hormonal changes, or deficiency of calcium or vitamin D. Doctors prescribe steroids to strengthen the bones of the patient with that medical condition. Also, arthritis is treated with administration of steroids in the patients’ body as well as other types of cancer. Steroids also help cancer patients who have had muscle loss to help get it back and build their strength back
