United States is known for its freedom and democracy which is something missing in some countries. This freedom is connected with clothes or the way people dress and the freedom of speech. A lot of people think that Americanization has a negative impact on their local culture. For instance, in Saudi Arabia they don’t have that much freedom so mostly they choose to study in the United States to seek the freedom they need and to breath. Except those people when they come back to their home country, they start asking for more; they ask for the freedom of speech and no one can stop them which can cause problems. Another example of the bad effect of Americanization, in Kuwait girls and boys dress like Americans, with the skirts, shirts, jeans, dresses and suits and trying to imitate them in everything considering this as modernization. I’m not saying that they can’t dress like them, but the bad side is when they show a lot of their body parts or wear something that is too stretch which can be against the culture. Zakaria provides a good example showing how we live in a scary time “We are told that we live in dark, dangerous times” (Zakaria 199). According to Zakaria, the way people change in a fast way is scary and we should be aware of what is changing.
