California Passed the drinking age act in 1984 for all consumers of alcohol had to be 21 years of age to buy and consume. Was this a good idea? Is this making young teens stay away from alcohol, and making our cities safe? Age limit should be lowered to 18 years of age because there should be no reason why try to keep teens away from something that they are going to get one way or another. Many teens get alcohol from older siblings, seeing parents and influencing other teens to do the same and hurt them self’s without knowing the responsibilities that comes to drinking. Many college students start drinking at the age of 15-18 due to having influences with other friends, this makes them want to go out with friends and drink without knowing the consequences that will happen while consuming it, and driving. Now having teens buying alcohol will also will not want to buy it as much due to spending more money and not being able to afford it, as well, having less robbery with teens who go inside gas stations and run with beer in their hands and having it call “beer run” because they can’t buy any alcohol due to not being 21 years’ old.” Lowering the drinking age will help slow the need for pre-gaming and bring the college fake ID business to a dead stop. It can 't help but reduce the binge drinking, drug overdoses and sexual assaults” (lower drinking) Having teens buy alcohol will stop them from consuming any other drugs such as pills, meth, and cocaine because they won’t want to try anything else if they know they can buy the alcohol, and have fun without hurting themselves, although if having it to buy alcohol at 21 they will want to keep trying other stuff such as the heavy drugs because it is not legal and everything they’re doing it’s not right. Doesn’t make sense giving an eighteen-year-old a gun, to go out and kill people but not be able to have a beer to relax, or enjoy time with family members. Having teenagers to join military not only affect them mentally, but also take them away from families. In addition, if we believe that they are old enough to make decisions in choosing whether to go and risk their lives, why can’t they can a beer with friends and not tell them they’re not responsible when U.S says they’re responsible to choose whether to go to war and become an adult at the ag of 18. “Lowering the drinking age to 18 would diminish the thrill of breaking the law to get a drink” (Drinkingage) Lowering alcohol would make teens more responsible and know what their limits are, and having parents telling the when its been enough instead of going out and getting it from someone else and running the chance of getting hurt.
