America has effortlessly allowed alcohol to be a tradition in most family’s homes. Those adults of those families all around the United States drive without even thinking that they might be slightly intoxicated. This has always been a problem that never seem to go away. There must be something that needs to be done because the laws right now are clearly not working. Alcohol reduces your ability to make decisions and can blur your vision. All of this is needed to drive effectively. It may be simple task to not drink and drive but many people struggle with that. People are getting killed from drivers that can’t decide if they are sober enough to drive. Families that just want to get home and go to sleep are getting killed by those drivers. In

The penalty of that law isn’t very expensive for that crime. In law a DUI is when a person when someone gets pulled over and has a BAC of 0.008%. Most of the time a lot of people don’t get pulled over at all, this also should be a problem that needs to be solved. Also the Wisconsin Involuntary Manslaughter law states that you are sentenced to forty years in prison and a one hundred thousand dollars fine, if you are intoxicated and you kill someone while driving. Many people question wonder why this law doesn’t have the same punishment as homicide crime, getting life in prison and forty years in prison can be life changing. I don’t think the forty-year punishment solves the problem at all. People can live long enough to get out of prison and kill two people while they drink and drive. This is because there are going to be more people worried about if they are going to be in prison for the rest of my life just because of their stupid decision to get in the car and drive rather than calling a cab. There will be less people coming out of bars drunk out of their mind and getting in their cars and driving. There will also be less people that have already had a DUI driving because they may have finally learned their lesson by their first time through and how stupid it was. All of this may cost a lot of money but it will be worth it in the long run. The statistics will change dramatically by less deaths by drunk drivers and less people will have to worry about their kid getting killed by a drunk. The Wisconsin government needs to get this into congress as soon as possible. They need to make these laws into actually state laws. Parents who do have kids need to stop worrying if they are going to make it home safely. There is children that are dying that can’t even live past their childhood. We should be able to drive without worrying about drunk people crowding the streets in their weapons.
