Abortion is one of the most controversial social issues being discussed today. When discussing this issue, people assume one of two perspectives: pro-life or pro-choice. A person who classifies themselves as pro-life tends to believe that the embryo or fetus is considered a “person” with constitutional rights. They also believe that women should not be allowed to make the decision whether to carry the baby to full term because it would constitute murder. A person who classifies themselves as pro-choice believes that the woman should have ultimate control of her body and should be able to decide if she wants to carry or abort the baby.
