Abortion is a medical procedure in which the mother is to allow a medical profession to purposefully induce her to miscarry her child while still in the womb, which is at the state of an embryo or fetus. Abortion is an ongoing debate over whether or not abortion should be a legal option that started with the case of Roe v. Wade in 1973, which ruled that abortion was woman’s fundamental right, but limiting that right at the point of “viability” (Brief-Lynx). The nation has been split into proponents of the situation, identifying themselves as pro-choice, which contend that choosing abortion is a right, and that religious belief should have no bearing on the decision and should not be limited by governmental authority, and the opponents, identifying themselves as pro-life, which generally believe that abortion should be illegal, religion and moral beliefs being their main driving force (ProCon). There are also middle grounders who believe that abortion should be illegal except under special circumstances, such as if a person were to be raped and got pregnant they might not want to keep the baby. After all data and viewpoints are taken into consideration, abortion should be legal.
