Abortion is described as, “voluntary termination of a pregnancy resulting in the death of fetus or embryo (Kathy Gill).” This term is something that in today's society is causing a large-scale turmoil. You have two different sides: Pro-Choice and Pro-Life, each term referring to a different stand on abortion. Those who think that women who should be given the choice on whether they should have an abortion because it is their body is referred to as “Pro-Choice”. Those who believe that an embryo is considered alive once conceived, thus making an abortion murder to the embryo is called “Pro-Life” (Kathy Gill). Doing this will help one understand their stand an abortion and help them come to the solution on what they believe is right or wrong. It was first brought into major perspective during the Roe vs. Wade case that was took into account by the Supreme Court. The case first started when a, “single pregnant women, Roe, brought a class action suit challenging the constitutionality of the Texas abortion laws (lawnix). There law is as followed, “It is a crime to obtain or attempt an abortion except on medical advice to save the life of the mother (lawnix).” And of course Roe believed that it was her choice to decide on what she wanted to do with the embryo because it was her body. This lawsuit eventually found its way to the Supreme Court where it was ruled that, during the first trimester it is the woman's decision on what she wants to her body. In addition the court added that the state may intervene during the second, and can ban on the third trimester. This causes a major problem with some people, because a baby can have its first heartbeat during the first 9-10 weeks of pregnancy which is during the first trimester thus making it legally okay to murder the embryo
