For example: if a pregnancy occurs as a result of rape or incest, the subsequent child could be an ongoing reminder of the trauma she suffered which could lead to the development of PTSD. Furthermore, The National Women’s study conducted a case study which conveyed that one-third of all female rape victims developed PTSD sometime during their lifetime; and more than one in ten of those victims suffered with it for the rest of their lives (Newitz). Pro-life advocates argue that abortion only should only be legal in the cases of sexual assault and interbreeding. However, many pro-life believers fail to acknowledge that many women are often afraid to speak up, making it impossible to find every single woman who suffered these traumatic events. In addition, this contradicts their stance because if they oppose any legal abortions, then it should not matter how the life was conceived. Similarly, women who are forced to conceive often experience a disorder called postpartum depression, which can negatively affect their mental health (Scherker). Some fetuses have such serious complications that demise is ensured earlier or not long after birth. It would be inhumane to force women to conceive a fetus with lethal abnormalities to term. Even in the case of nonfatal conditions, such as down syndrome many couples do not have the resources, the emotional stamina or the family support to raise a disabled child (Harmon). Obviously, individuals who oppose abortion argue that children can overcome their disabilities and if they do then mothers are cruel for destroying a potential life. Although, miracles do occur, more than fifty-five percent of children with abnormalities do not conquer their problems and end up suffering and living in misery their whole lives (Harmon). If every women believed in miracles, a new baby would come into this world that would unlikely never know anything else but the feeling of agony. Alternatively, opponents of abortion say that what if Stephen Hawking or Franklin Roosevelt had been aborted? Pro-life believers are indicating that the abortion policy should be impacted by how great of a human being a fetus turns out to be. Why should it matter if a disabled child becomes a great leader or not? If it does matter then imagine a scenario where Adolf Hitler or Osama bin Laden had been aborted? The world would be a better place if that occurred. To sum up, abortions should remain legal because it
