Artificial Intelligence, or, AI, is the intelligence displayed by machines or software. It is a common trope in the Science Fiction genre. Movies such as Blade Runner and 2001: A Space Odyssey all revolve around the concept of AI. Recent developments in computer technology and neuro research show that AI is on the horizon. The AI controlled drone is actually a disaster waiting to happen. While the unmanned drone is similar, there is one big difference. That is, of course, that the unmanned drone is remotely controlled by a human, whereas the AI controlled one is completely free of human thought, insight or supervision. This is one of the most morally gray as the benefits and disadvantages are on more equal footing. But despite that “We could produce weapons that are much more targeted and much less likely to destroy civilian life and property”(Spotts), and it has been argued that without human oversight, the application of AI to combat drones “would lead to violations of human-rights laws as well as international laws governing combat.”(Spotts). Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, has “Has called A.I. a "demon" that is "potentially more dangerous than nuclear weapons."”(Mangu-Ward). It’s obvious to see that putting AI in charge of our weapons could spell the end of human
