Security and safety at a nuclear power plant are by far the most important thing. One nuclear power plant Indian Point Energy Centre ,located on the Hudson river and producing 25% of the power for NYC ,has had a few minor incident none significant enough to warrant closure ,but strict reform was needed to ensure both the safety and security of the plant. According to Indian point Energy Center the nuclear facility has spent $50,000,000 to upgrade, replace, overhaul, and inspect hundreds of pieces of equipment that help make the plant safer. Indian point has operated for 40 years and inspections were done as a post Fukushima Federally mandated order another example of how the government is ensuring safety is a priority. The construction of a nuclear facility doesn’t just create jobs for workers, but also gives business to the manufacturers of necessary supplies needed to build a nuclear facility. For example, the average nuclear facility uses 1,200,000 cubic feet of concrete to build a nuclear facility the same amount used in the building of the Pentagon. This produces jobs because the concrete has to be delivered and made.
