In the book The Project by Brian Falkner, there are a few characters that are a big part of the story. The main characters are Luke and Tommy, who are best friends. Luke is from New Zealand and his memory is really outstanding; Luke also is really smart so he finishes his work early,which leads to his getting into trouble for pranks. Tommy is American and can usually talk his way out of anything; he also is obsessed with spy gadgets, which helped both of the boys a lot throughout the book.
During the last week of school, Luke and Tommy got into trouble for a prank. There is a statue outside the school of a guy riding a horse and Luke put toilet paper in his hand, and a toilet seat on top of the saddle. A giant squirrel made them get caught,

Kerr, the school principal, called them into the office; and he told Luke that he would involve the police, unless he would read his book and do his report on it. He didn’t do because he thought that it was the most boring book in the world. Mr. Kerr told him that is he found the book on the world’s top 10 most boring books, he wouldn’t say anything. When Luke went home he researched about it and learned about the world’s most boring book. It was called Leonardo’s River.
When Luke and Tommy were walking home from school one day, they see a couple people filling sandbags to create a wall because it was going to flood the library. Luke and Tommy help for a while and the water starts to fall over the wall. Then Luke realizes that they are not going to be able to build a wall that can stop the water. Luke goes into the library to devise a plan, and he gets the idea that he can create a sort of bucket brigade with people; by just handing the most valuable and rare books first.
Earlier that day, Luke had seen on his computer that there was a man that was offering $2 million for the most boring book in the world. During the bucket brigade, Luke saw the book, and with his memory, remembered the $2 million. Later that night him and Tommy broke in during the flood and stole the book, but as they found it, a few other people broke in to try to steal the book.
