The production of She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen was performed by the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film and directed by Wesley Broulik. I attended the performance on April 9th, 2016 at 7:30 pm. Overall, I really enjoyed the performance. The whole plot of the story kept me very intrigued. Normally by just reading the title I wouldn’t choose to go see this performance, but was very pleased with how it was all performed and organized. Every performer that was in this production did a very good job of acting. Some of my favorite actors were Tilly Evans and Orucs. Tilly Evans was one of the main characters of the whole production. She was a nerdy 15 year old girl who loved playing video games, specifically, Dungeons and Dragons. Right away in the play she had died and left behind her sister Agnes. However, throughout the play she was playing in the video game. Tilly had impressed me a lot because she showed her emotion very well. However, what had impressed me the most was how well she would handle the sword and …show more content…
However, through it all she discovers things about her sister and gets to know her even better. I thought that the main message was very clear. It showed that some people have so much about them and choose to lose themselves in a video game so that they can be themselves and do things they’ve never imagined before. The conflict of the play was needing to go through Tilly’s stuff so that Agnes could completely move on with life and in her with boyfriend. The inciting incident was finding Tilly’s module and wanting to complete it. The climax was when Agnes had made it to the end of the game and had to fight the five headed dragon to get the lost soul, which was Tilly. In the end the conflict was resolved because Agnes was able to find Tilly’s soul and was able to be at peace with her sister being

Henrietta Leavitt was played by Katie Piper, Margaret Leavitt was played by Sarah Lambert, Peter Shaw was played by Morgan Gates, Annie Cannon was played by Julia Whalen, and Williamina Fleming was played by Beth Ryan. All of the actors were convincing of the roles they played, and I didn’t dislike any of the actors. Having to choose one favorite actor or character from this play is very difficult, but my favorite actor would be Ms. Ryan, who played the character Williamina Fleming. She was my favorite actor because she portrayed her character the best and she was convincing of her part in the play. I liked that she had a very comical part in the play too.…

However, one of their competitors cheated on a problem and the Waukesha team was able to progress to nationals in New York. “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street”, by Rod Serling. The Characters are very important to the events in the plot happening in the story. “No doubt it did have something to do with all this power failure and the rest of it. Meteors can do some crazy things.” The evidence in this section is that these sentences were moving through everyone's minds because they didn’t want to believe anything else to where it would freak them out.…

The star of the performance was by far William Heatley, who did an incredible job as Leading Player. He had a difficult role, one that required much of the singing and narrating, which he delivered on. The Leading Player is supposed to give off a malevolent yet impish vibe, which was very present throughout the performance. It also helped that his singing voice was exemplary and he managed to hit all the right notes. The music within the show was definitely its strong point.…

Personally, I felt like there was a mixed bag of talent in this cast with some standing out more than others. For example, Matthew Cavander, who played Roy, was notably talented in his ability to quickly establish his character and connect to the audience through his convincing portrayal. There was not a point in the play where his performance brought me back to reality and made me feel as though I was watching a person play a character, rather than just watching the character act out his life. An actor like this is so important to a director and playwright trying to convey a specific message. On the other hand, Donavan St. Andre more monotone and expressionless portrayal of Lewis drew me out of the play, failing to make me feel as connected to him or his story.…

Medea and her two sons are then exiled by Creon the King of Corinth in fear that she may cast some spell or evil doing upon his land and daughter. Medea’s heart has already turned cold by the loss of her husband to another woman and the loss of her own home.…

The Royal Family, written by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber, is a play about three generations of a wealthy family during the 1920s. I watched the play on December 6, 2015 at the Pierce College Arts Building. The play was directed Anita Adcock, who did great job setting the play as she intended it to be. Everything from the costumes, the lighting, to the typecasting was excellently produced. Particularly, the set design was able to greatly express the theme of the play.…
