The Revolutionary War not only gained America their freedom but it also gained their fair share of new problems. The greatest problem that America faced following the Revolutionary War was debt, and a whole lot of it. the national government owed approximately $12 million in foreign debt and $44 million in domestic debt; and state governments owed approximately $25 million, mostly in war debts. The main concerns of post-war economic planners were decreasing the inflation rate and increasing the value of the currency; and repaying and financing government war debts.
