Why Is It Important To Exist Within Community?

Superior Essays
1. I think it is important for Christians to exist within community especially when dealing with difficult life circumstances, sins, or emotional and relational issues because we suffer from identity amnesia. We suffer from placing our identity in the things of creation rather than in Christ and His great work of salvation and sanctification. We are blind to our own sins and self-righteousness and are a people in desperate need. We are in great need for others who are broken and know of the great grace of Christ to look into our lives and point us to Christ, point us to His cross, point us to His Word, point us to His grace and sufficiency. We are deceived by our own sin. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; …show more content…
I am to understand what God is doing in the here and now and have community because the cross has dealt with the selfishness of sin. Sin seeks isolation. Sin seeks to be right. Sin seeks to be defensive. Sin seeks its own throne. “Self-sufficiency and autonomy are lies from the fall.” Adam and Eve hid and covered up when they sinned. Sin likes the darkness; it likes to be hidden. Only shining the light of Christ on sin can bring it out into the open to be diagnosed and for confession and forgiveness and repentance and restoration to take place. The capacity to accomplish this work is not dependent upon me, but upon the indwelling work of the Holy Spirit. This work requires great, extravagant, amazing grace! “Grace that is greater than all our sin.” Galatians 6:1-2 uses five words that are especially helpful to know why it is important to live in community. “Caught. Restore. Gently. Watch. Carry.” We cannot carry out this great work without that wonderful, uncomfortable grace. We are a “flawed people living in the confusing intersection between the fallen world and uncomfortable grace, and we need gentle guidance and help.” We are here to help people see that the refinement process is a sign of grace and also to remind others of the grace of rest that is our promised inheritance so that they may have the …show more content…
First, these truths of Scripture from this DVD series has already been used to impact my life. It was convicting, exhorting, and provoking and sent me to my Savior in confession and to ask for forgiveness and repentance. These truths from God’s Word struck my heart, and I am so thankful for its usefulness so far in this first week. Secondly, God has already inserted me into several lives where I have been used to bring the good news of the Gospel of Christ to them as they are suffering various trials. He is using me to bear burdens and is teaching me to be gentle and patient and to be watchful as I walk alongside them. I believe as I am further equipped to do every good deed He has set before me, God will use me as His servant in His church. Our church is a church of needy people, as I am one, and I can see in His Word that God has given me all that is needed for life and godliness; therefore, I can be a vessel for His use to pour into others’ lives the great truths of the grace of the Gospel and all that Christ has done and to find our identity in Him. Our church is a church needing order brought from chaos - a great work God has given all of us. If I am one who is willing to be vulnerable and transparent because my trust and identity are in Christ, then Lord willing, that will be a catalyst of others finding their identity in Christ, which will allow them to be vulnerable and transparent so the light of Christ can shine on us and begin lighting the candles of

The overall premise of Wheeler and Whaley’s The Great Commission to Worship is that worship and evangelism are not to be isolated from each other. Worship and evangelism go together and they impact how the believer is to live out the commandment of the Great Commission. Wheeler and Whaley make the assertion that evangelism and worship have been misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misapplied, and offer suggestions to fix this problem. The ultimate purpose of the Christian, according to Wheeler and Whaley, is to glorify God in all that he or she does.…

Theology Responses Question #1: What changes has the practice of ministry had on your interpretation of (a) the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and (b) the work of the Holy Spirit? Beside my grandmother, front pew on the preacher’s right, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Ocala, Florida (hereafter referred to as St. Mark’s). As a minister, I feel it is my job to communicate, in word and deed, the unchanging Gospel to the modern generation in ways that help people to understand Christ clearly. Early on in my Christian walk it was apparent to not only me, but also to those in leadership roles within the church – elders, ministers, etc. – that there was a call upon my life to enter the ministry. I was quickly taken under the guidance of the lead Preacher in my local…

At the beginning of this year, I decided to dedicate my life to Christ. After coming back home from a winter retreat, I concluded that I need to talk to pastor to get baptized, and I did on April 23, 2017. Shortly thereafter, I went on a mission trip to Washington, D.C., where I really got to see God’s works at hand. My mission group and I work woke up one morning to a beautiful sunrise, and magnificent weather. Despite the fact we had to get up at five in the morning, I was eager to see what the day entailed.…

Last Sunday, I attend my friend’s Francine church service generally speaking going to church is something that has been installed in me, throughout my upbringing being that, I am a Baptist Christian, but I decided to take a cultural plunge and experience another domination of Christianity. Francine’s Church is called The Evening of the Light and is considered a Protestant church. Prior to attending the service, I was shocked when Francine instructed me to wear a long skirt or dress that went pass my knees and not to wear any make- up. This was so odd to me because at my church there were no dress codes and the members typically wore formal attire on the first Sunday of the month because we took communion and there definitely wasn’t any restriction…

The last time I heard you screaming was when you placed yourself outside of building 6; you were shouting “Accept Jesus or go to hell.” You were quoting John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” People were talking about you being crazy and just walking past you in a fearful manner.…

Living in a fallen world allows us to be tempted daily, leaving us feeling as if we never measure up to the world’s standards. Christians in the helping profession have a unique opportunity to show love towards those who have fallen, treating them with respect and showing them that they matter as a human. As the professional, we must understand that every client that we work with is loved by God. The one verse I will forever live by is Psalm 143:8, “Let the morning bring the word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life”. This verse tells me that I do not need to fear about singing in front people, or fear befriending people, or fear leading others, or fear anything in this world because the moment I gave my heart to God, He continually held onto it with such a delicacy. He knows that I trust and have faith in Him, and likewise, I know He trusts and has faith in me. Many people do not think about God having faith and trust in them, but He does.…
