Attack The Gas Station Analysis

The film Attack the Gas Station opens directly without giving any breathing time to the audience. A gas station was occupied by four punks. They smashed everything in the gas station and scared the owner and staffs. The brutal overbearing group of punks was most vividly demonstrated. The main storyline of the whole movie is all happened in this gas station. The reason that four punks attack the gas station is given by the movie subtitle which is boring. While they are in the gas station, the four men don’t just simply rob the station but set up their own rules. The director explained four teenagers’ actions by using the flashback to showed their past. “Each flashback is palpably legible to a South Korean audience (Shin, Stringer 138).” Mudaepo is guarding the hostage and he is keeping asking his hostage to heads down which means stand on their heads. To my surprise, everyone in the gas station also include some gangsters obey him. When I was wondering why he ask the hostage to do so, the flash back show me his past. When he was in the school, he loved a girl. But his physical education teacher thought he was bullied that girl. The teacher was so mean that he asked Mudaepo to do the heads down in front of the girl that Mudaepo loved. This request must break Mudaepo’s heart. "Each flashback establishes a turning point: a reason for each of the four youths having veered off the straight and narrow, the normative South Korean path. And each flashback illuminates long-standing ills of South Korean society (Shin, Stringer 138).” By asking Mudaepo to head down in front of his love, that became a turing point in his life, so he treat the hostage in the way that he was
