In order to reduce the greenhouse gases and pollution in the atmosphere the government has set certain laws and regulations on pollutants. The highest pollutant industry in the world being the automobile industry, and this being said they have had more regulations set in any other industry. It ' started with the amount of C02 that could be produced from a motor vehicle restriction. Thus the Catalytic Converter was created, to help filter excess C02 released into the atmosphere. Regulations continued, for things like accommodations, safety in addition to environmental needs. And the automobile constructed new cars yearly, keeping up with the ever more strict standards. Eventually in the early 200 's an alternate fuel source was recommended as the ever present threat of global warming began to show it 's consequences. Now, many alternatives are available in cars; fully electric, or hybrid (miss between fueled, and electric), corn fueled, and even hydro powered vehicles.
