Every 1 in 3 children in the U.S. live without their father as the number of two parent households falls by 1.2million in ten years. Both a male and female child can grow up with limited liabilities, it’s just certain things a mother could not teach. For example, the talk although a mother can sit down and give all the information to her son it would not amount to a male’s perspective. Without that additional surplus, it causes a lack of knowledge to the child due to the fact a mother is just trying to keep her child safe. A father would go more in depth with the after affect and the possible connections that can be tied. Your child could feel like apart of them is missing and could possibly just give up. Studies has proven “Children in grades 7-12 who have lived with at least one biological parent, youth that experienced divorce, separation, or nonunion birth reported lower grade point averages than those who have always lived with both biological parents.” (Tillman 1). It is harder to teach a child when there is only a mother in the child’s life. Since the child has only a mother all the responsibilities reflect upon her. Rather than sitting down helping her child do his or her homework the mother may have to work most of the time. This causes the child to depend solely on a classroom based environment to learn information that is required. The child then starts to struggle in school because he or she is not properly studying or getting the help needed to succeed. Being there is one thing, but you need to be able to provide for your child as well. You should have a stable job that is paying good enough money for you to pay the bills and get your child what he or she needs. You also have to help pay for your child’s education. What if he or she doesn’t get in school free, the money will then have to come out of pocket. That will be very hard for a single parent to pay for. It is very hard trying to maintain your child as a single parent and it will relieve much stress if both parents work
