Sex Trafficking has become a national problem.“Sex Trafficking Is defined as the act of forcing coercing, or conning someone into performing any sexual act. According to U.S law, anyone younger than eighteen who is selling or being sold for sex acts is a victim of sex trafficking, whether by force or not. “ ( breaking free) In every country in the world someone is being trafficked. ( book ) Many countries have not even created laws against the major issue. ( what's being done website.) There is approximately 20 to 30 million slaves in the world. Today. 600,000 to 800,000 are trafficked across the borders every year to be forced into slavery. (do something.com) In 2000, the United States created the TVPA, it was the first federal law to address sex trafficking in the United states. This law focused of prevention and protection of those who have been harmed or a victim of sex trafficking and the persecution of those who are trafficking these victims. The TVPA has been revised multiple times to keep up with the …show more content…
The industry alone pulls in over 99 billion dollars a year. ( fact sheet) About 2 million adults and children get pushed into sex trafficking each year and don't know how to get out of it. Today sex trafficking can be in your own home. Sex traffickers target vulnerable people and they find out all the information they wanna know about you through your social media and online profiles. In some cases, kids own family force them into trafficking. One little girl's dad would rape her each night and then make her go to the bar and sleep with a bunch of men all night and let them do what they want to her. Then that girl had to go home and get ready for school and go to school and act like nothing's wrong. The little girl grew up in the household not knowing anything was wrong and that what her father is doing is wrong. Kids nowadays don't know all the dangers out in the world and what can happen.
