Introduction Lately in the news there has been a little more coverage on the problem of police brutality. The topic of police brutality is important, or at least to me, because I believe the police are countlessly getting away with use of excessive force. The problem of police brutality can really affect anyone. However, it is more likely that a person of color experience the front end of the bull. I think there should be something in place that can better restrain the use of excessive force or completely stop it. Knowledge Base Statistically speaking more Caucasians are killed by police than people of color, but that is solely due to the differences in population. In the article from Richardson (2015) it is stated “whites are 1.3 times more likely than blacks to die at the hands of police.” and then goes on to state “Yes, more whites than blacks die as a result of an encounter with police, but whites also represent a much bigger chunk of the total population.” To better understand police brutality you have to take in all factors. Where most people go wrong is they’ll look at a statistic and just assume it’s correct. They won’t think twice about what those numbers are based upon and research it. There are plenty of different resources someone can use to find information on police brutality.
