Because of issues such as low self-esteem and a desperate need for social acceptance, the demand for plastic surgery remains at a high rate despite all of its associated risks and controversies (Cope, 2007). There are many risks and negative factors surrounding plastic surgery. Beauty is often associated with a textbook version implemented in the mind of many by the media. The need to be wrinkle free, denying the process of aging, blemishes, and scars cause negative decisions to be made when considering surgery. Plastic surgery is the method known for correcting or restoring body parts as well as bodily functions. To continue the spread and advertisement of plastic surgery, technology has designed various and creative ways for this newest trend to continue its popularity among the public. Social media is one of the newest trends created that focuses on what beauty should look like. Media outlets such as facebook, and instagram are continuing to gain momentum and influence with the perception of beauty, causing millions to turn to the plastic surgery in an effort of fitting into what society defines as beautiful. A creative variety of options regarding plastic surgery is now available to all that feel the need to fulfill a specific look aimed towards their personal appearance or self-esteem.
