Most people think that coyotes and mules choose their future, or do the things they do because they want to. But what if they are being forced or they are too scared to ask for help. In Mexico’s society human trafficking has been a big deal for a long time and it needs to be brought to everyone’s attention, so there can be a permanent solution. Human trafficking is known as today’s version of slavery. The purpose of this paper is to inform everyone of what human trafficking is, what the major problems that we face with it are, survivor stories and also a possible solutions for human trafficking.

Being a sex slave means that they are forced to have sex with multiple men and women. ”Adult women make up the largest group of sex trafficking victims, followed by girl children” (Soroptimist, 2012). Forced labor is “A situation in which victims are forced to work against their own will, under the threat of violence or some other form of punishment, their freedom is restricted and a degree of ownership is exerted” (Fact Sheet , 2012). Forced labor can be anything like working in a sweatshop or domestic servitude. Lastly debt bondage traps the victim in a cycle of debt that he or she can never pay off. This is the “least known form of labor trafficking today, and yet it is the most widely used method of enslaving people” (Fact Sheet , 2012). Human trafficking goes all the way back to the fourteen hundreds, but no one knows where it is originally from. They either notice it and they do not care or they are just oblivious and do not know that there are coyotes and mules. What are coyotes and mules? A Coyote is someone who specializes in smuggling other people into the United States from Mexico (Wise Geek, 2015). A mule is someone who specializes in smuggling drugs across international borders (Locked Up, 2011). Some people think that they choose to do those things, but what if they are being forced? They might not have a gun to their head but their families might be held hostage or they are being threatened. When the mules are caught they have a harsher punishment that the coyotes do, because they are dealing with drugs and not people.
