One story that I found from ABC news in written in 2006 that told the story of a fifteen year old named “Debbie” who lived in Phoenix, Nevada. She was an amazing student. Someone you would never expect such an atrocious thing to happen to, But this didn 't stop the people who lure this innocent girl away from her normal life into that of a sex slave. Human trafficking in the United States is a very real thing and both Women and children are vulnerable to it and yet we see little being done about it. This is why it is not hard to believe that “Debbie” is one of the many thousands that are abducted or lured into this. The FBI say they estimate about 100,000 children and young women were victims to trafficking back then so just imagine the number now it may be double maybe even triple. As “Debbie 's” story goes on she was lured out of her home by her so called friend who was waiting for her with two other men. As she greeted her friend named “Bianca” she pushed her into the car and strapped her down with tape and rope for the two men. The two men then proceeded to take the girl to their apartment where they and about 4 other guys sexually assaulted …show more content…
She was treated like she was nothing but an object that could be passed around for pleasure. Ultimately the police did their job found “Debbie” and she was reunited with her family, although this is a happy ending and it 's great that her life can go back to normal with a little therapy it still leaves us with a question. The question is how can we stop this from happening to other girls and if if it does what can they do during and after it. I found a book written by a writer of the U.N Which talks about the vulnerability, action, and impact of human trafficking. In the book it reads that the reason that human trafficking roots from poverty, isolation, and weakness. These three simple things in someone make it that much easier for the human traffickers to prey on that person. The impact that it has left people are horrible. These victims are left mentally broken and emotionally disconnected from everything. People who have fell victims to this typically afterwards have had signs of suicidal thoughts and without the proper therapy or help they will most likely carry out the act. Socially these victims tend to keep to themselves and don 't allow anyone to really connect to them. The action being taken by the U.N has been working on perfecting an already great program known as the Vienna Forum. The Vienna Forum is specifically made to first raise awareness on the subject of human trafficking, and to also
