Most people associate knowing your status with the disease, HIV/AIDS. There is a really bad stigma that comes with the disease, HIV/AIDS and it’s a lot of information that people do not know about the disease. I remembered about two years ago it was pouring down raining and there was this woman standing outside of the store and had asked me for a ride, I was reluctant at first because I didn’t know her but my gut told me she was harmless. So we are in the car and we are talking and she informs me that she had no problem walking home but was having the AIDS virus and couldn’t risk getting sick. It was at that moment I realized there was more to the HIV/AIDS that I was not aware of. I am here to discuss with you exactly what this disease is, what the symptoms are, what treatment is out there for people affected with this disease and how you can prevent it. Do you know your status? Human Immunodeficiency Virus, which are short for HIV is a virus. If left untreated, it can lead to the disease called AIDS, which is short for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. The difference between HIV and AIDS is that with HIV it is a virus that may cause an infection, but AIDS is a condition or a syndrome. Being infected with HIV can lead to the development AIDS.
