Introduction
Did you know that every year in the United States, nearly 60% of first-year college students discover that, despite being fully eligible to attend college, they are not ready for post secondary studies (source). The problem is that people in my school are unaware or don 't know enough about going into college; to solve this we must provide more information from counselors about college. Getting colleges and high schools involved with each other is the missing piece to this problem. I am personally going through the struggle of not feeling ready for college after my senior year of high school. The problem is that students and counselors aren 't doing their jobs to their fullest which leaves graduating Seniors with a lack of information that they need to be truly successful in college. Even those students who have done everything they were told to do to prepare for college find, often after they arrive, that their new institution has deemed them unprepared.the effects of high school students going into college unprepared are that they don 't graduate from college and are lowering the success rates for college students. Also some effects of high school students going to college unprepared is that they waste their money on courses they don 't to take they take too many classes.for example students go to college thinking its gonna be like high school and aren 't mentally prepared for the amount of work and stress that comes with college level courses. Most of the time students go to college and aren 't 100% sure what they want too do which is a waste of time and money. According to the southern region education board the graph below shows high school students that enroll in a college that only requires a high school diploma are 50% less prepaired for college than students that enroll for a college that requires a high school diploma , a high grade point average, and others. This proves that high schools need to provide students with more information about what certain colleges are looking for to close the readiness gap. Every year in the
