Childhood obesity is a rising problem in our schools everywhere. There are many ways the media is trying to caution us about this ongoing problem. We need help in this area as parents if we want to solve the problem. This health issue is increasing every year. If our children are tested early, it may help solve the obesity issue. One thing to consider is the child’s living environment and how the child is educated in the home. It is true that some children only get the proper meals at school due to poverty. Parents are not educated on how to make healthy food choices. The only healthy and fulfilling meals children may receive is at school. Creative and well thought out ideas could be the center point that can help the parents with newsletters that contain healthy facts on how the school is promoting health. Healthy education ideas can keep the parents involved, by providing a weekly health chart and reward system for the children. At …show more content…
Obesity has been an issue in the last decade and continues to present health problems for children and adults. Obesity testing in the schools is a necessary step in this process. Once the school has identified the children who are obese, notified and referred the parents to their primary care physician for lab work. The primary care physician will refer the parent and child to the certified nutritionist. The certified nutritionist will set up a plan to decrease the unwanted fatty substances. It is at this point that obesity will help decrease be a problem in our schools. If the schools, parents, and health professionals work together obesity will be decreased in the younger
