The Pro’s and Con’s of Gun Control

In America it is a right for all Americans to own a weapon; for this reason it is necessary for the government to establish gun laws in order to limit people 's use of them. The use of gun control has, and continues to be used for the protection and safety of the United States citizens. Experts and journalists in this field believe that the use, and increase in gun control is necessary to maintain the safety of those who live in America. A study conducted by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention found, that in 2009- 2010 a total amount of 22,571 homicides and 38,126 suicides were committed by a firearm. It stated that firearm homicide rate in large metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) such as New York, Chicago, or San Francisco, remained above the national rate in 2009-2010, but more than 75% of the MSAs showed a decreased rate from 2006-07. Pro gun control activists see these numbers and are terrified. In just one year over 60,000 people in large cities died by a firearm, numbers still higher than the national rate. Gun control activists want to increase the use of gun control in hopes of limiting these deaths. They believe that if guns are limited and better controlled than the deaths that are caused by them will decrease. Furthermore, gun control activists think that the kinds of guns that the public has access to is over the top.
