In America it is a right for all Americans to own a weapon; for this reason it is necessary for the government to establish gun laws in order to limit people 's use of them. The use of gun control has, and continues to be used for the protection and safety of the United States citizens. Experts and journalists in this field believe that the use, and increase in gun control is necessary to maintain the safety of those who live in America. A study conducted by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention found, that in 2009- 2010 a total amount of 22,571 homicides and 38,126 suicides were committed by a firearm. Lastly, A journalist from CNN took a different approach at gun control, he gathered data from violent crimes to show how effective guns were at defending. He says, “Over the period from 2007-2011, when roughly six million nonfatal violent crimes occurred each year, data from the National Crime Victimization Survey show that the victim did not defend with a gun in 99.2% of these incidents.” This is a very interesting piece of evidence that could be key for pro gun control supporters. At a stunning 99.2% of those involved in a violent crime did not use a firearm to defend themselves. This is a huge talking point for the pro side because one of the arguments for those against the use of gun control say that it provides protection when needed. This piece of evidence clearly shows that there are other ways in defending oneself when involved in a violent crime. In conclusion, experts in the field of gun control believe that guns can create dangerous environments, some of their key points for justifying this include: many homicides and suicides are at the cause of guns, guns are too powerful and are not needed by citizens, and that the use of firearms are not the only means of
