There are four difference sectors which are involved in the support of service users which are statutory, private, voluntary and informal. The statutory sector provides care for service users which is funded by the government for example the NHS. The statutory sector would provide care for a service user who has suffered from a stroke by giving them the medication they require and even surgery if necessary. The statutory sector would also provide a GP to consult with someone who has contracted influenza.
The private sector involves organisations which provide care that service users have to pay for, these private sector organisations make profit out of the money they receive for the care they provide for example Bupa. People may decide to pay for treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy, they may need to have the treatment fairly …show more content…
They do this by helping them to re learn actions such as walking and making a drink. Whereas a paramedic provides care for a service user before the recovery process begins, they provide service users with essential care and treatment to improve their condition. For example, when someone has suffered from a stroke a paramedic might try and regulate their breathing. On the other hand an occupational therapist may help someone to begin to walk again if they had lost feeling in one side of their body when they had a stroke. However a similarity between a paramedic and an occupational therapist is that both of them can work both for the statutory and private sector. Although paramedics usually work for the national health service (NHS) they can also work for private ambulance services. Occupational therapists can also work under the NHS but can work for themselves or a private business which may mean that a service user is seen to sooner due to shorter waiting
