Corrections officers have the highest rate of illness and injuries in the U.S. In federal and state prisons, Corrections officers tend to know the people that they are dealing with. They are usually on a first name basis with the inmates because they are with them almost everyday. That can also be dangerous too because inmates can use their close relationship with you to manipulate you and get what they want. A correctional officer 's working environment can vary because with some correctional facilities being modern, well lit, air-conditioned and ventilated while others are old, overcrowded, and noisy.
