In 2 Timothy 3:16 Paul proclaims that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness”. Paul focuses on different details of scripture and the importance of all of them. The priority of Scripture is an important aspect of Oklahoma Wesleyan University as it gives details on how, why, and what it means to live a Godly life.
Much of modern day Christianity is migrating from “rigorous Bible study” (Williams 705) to waiting for Sundays to come around to get their weekly fix. However, that is not how it should be. The Word of God is the cornerstone of Christianity for it holds promises and truths given from God. It is a road map to help Christ followers navigate a chaotic world that challenges the thought of God at every turn. Scripture gives the reader a closer look at who God is and it also gives instruction on how to be more like Christ. So knowing the significance of scripture is not enough. One must make it a

Not only does it help give peace it prepares the heart for battle. It is important for the reader to get to know God and his will on a personal level. However, Mcfague believes “when we talk about God, we do not really know who/what God is” (Setyawan 51). According to Mcfague, it is nearly impossible to know who God is. Though if a person knew scripture it would be obvious that is not true. Scripture is God-breathed and explains exactly who God is. It is important to know the Word in context and know it as a whole so it cannot be twisted. For even the devil knew scripture but twisted it to his liking. In response, Jesus counteracted the devils twisted words with more scripture. Jesus was ready and had scripture in the “vault of his heart” (Pastor Wootton) to fight Satan. So as today's world will try to switch and sugar coat scripture; knowing scripture helps one keep on the path to

To this point, Pinnock adds, “It is not enough to know what is written; we also need to grasp the significance of the Word. It is not enough to recite the text, if we are not saying what is crucial for the present situation” (Pinnock 222). Pinnock’s gives a helpful insight by saying that it is only through the Holy Spirit that we know what the Bible is saying to the world today. I need, we all need, the Spirit to show up in our lives and teach us what God is saying in our day and our time. The power of this lies in Pinnock’s examples of people like William Carey, William Wilberforce, and Martin Luther King, Jr., who through the Spirit’s illumination of Scripture, changed the world and grew God’s Kingdom.…

If humanity did not have scripture, everyone would be without certainty. People would be able to know some truths, like there is a God, and they are accountable to Him, but they would be missing the Gospel. Deuteronomy 29:29 says “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law”. God has given us scripture and made us accountable to it. We must look to it for wisdom.…

It is not something we do simply to ease our conscience. Matthew 4:4 tells us, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” The Bible is a very big and broad book. If we simply read it through, not only will it take a long time, but it would be difficult to gain all the knowledge you desire on a particular subject. In order to…

Roman Catholics see that the scripture is sacred, inspired and authoritative. It is inspired because the Holy Spirit breathes into authors who then write it. As stated through Dei Verbum, “Therefore ‘all Scripture is divinely inspired and has its use for teaching the truth and refuting error, for reformation of manners and discipline in right living, so that the man who belongs to God may be efficient and equipped for good work of every kind’.” In other words scripture is inspired by God so as to ensure that we may learn the word of the Lord as it truly is. It is authoritative in that it spreads the good news and shares how God wants us to live.…

The authority of scripture is not a small matter in spiritual development. The goal of spiritual development is for Christ to be formed within the Christian (Gal. 4:19). This formation within is impossible without the Word of God transforming a person’s heart and mind because the Word is God- breathed (2 Tim. 3:16-17).…

Thus, the teacher’s role is to present knowledge to students “In the quickest, most efficient [and unbiased] manner …” (2006, P. 53), guiding those (students) through disciplined reinforcement. In contrast, learning and knowing are based on faith through the application of the biblical principles God provided. According to 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV), “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” is the Christian perspective a teacher would present.…

The first point is that people must approach the Bible as scripture rather than text. If we contextualize the Bible, our own judgements get passed and an outside influence determines what we choose as values, rather than the Bible itself. Second, the story of the Bible is what we must show in our daily lives. Through the story of God, Christians should be able to show the ethics that follow. Another reason why scripture is important is because Christians virtues are shaped by God’s interaction with the world.…

The Bible is for us to understand the truth behind the Lord and understand each book in context. We connect with the Lord more and more each time we read the Scriptures and as a result gain something from it. Our effects and outcomes of what we read brings us closer to God as well. Paul states that we must not just read the Scriptures, but merely look at the words, examine them thoroughly, and insure the force and impact with the Bible’s purposes. When we read the Bible, we should not rush through it as if we don’t have time.…

Christian theology tradition emphasizes the unity of scripture and the way that it tells us a story of the beginning, defeat of sin, and the new creation of the book of revelation. Knowing the scriptures of the Bible doesn’t mean just memorizing the texts, but sanctifying the power of the Holy Spirit. The inspiring words of the Scripture will transform us into the image of Christ our Lord. God is good and reveals himself to us, but it’s our choice to allow him too. We must first gain a new insight and relationship with him, so we can require the knowledge of who God really is.…
