The first reason is that it was stated early on in the story that the king loved his daughter above all and she was the apple of his eyes. This led me to think that the princess may be spoiled and willful. She might be used to getting her way by any means necessary. This actually confirmed later in the story when it says that the princess used gold and her womanly wills to get the secret of the doors.
The second reason is that the princess comes from a long line of hot blooded barbaric descendent. And since breeding can play a big part in our ideas

In both “The Princess Paradox” by James Poniewozik and “Cinderella and Princess Culture” by Peggy Orenstein, the princess culture is agreed upon; however, the authors vary their opinions of how the fairytail dream of pink dresses and sparkly crowns came to be. Poniewozik opens up his article by addressing the “kick-ass culture,” while Orenstein focuses on how princesses have diminished the feeling of confidence and independence that young girls should experience. While some may believe that princesses show the younger generation that females possess the ability to accomplish anything a male can, others believe that this trend aggressively encourages the idea of “perfection” in our modern society. Both “The Princess Paradox” and “Cinderella and Princess Culture” discuss the rules and…

The narrator shows us this by saying “It was one of the fairest and loveliest of the damsels of the court who had been selected as the reward of the accused youth, should be proved innocent of the crime of aspiring to one so far above him; and the princess hated her.” The narrator is basically telling you that the princess hates that lady with a passion and hints that she would rather the youth be eaten by tigers than be married to the lady she despises so much. The narrator tells you that she would do something like that earlier in the story when the narrator says “This semi-barbaric king had a daughter as his most florid fancies, and with a soul as fever and imperious as his own”(pg.300). The narrator is saying that she is just as cruel and evil as her father. This is evidence that shows she has the guts to tell her lover to open the door with the tiger in it instead of the…
