There are quite a few World Religions that people continue to practice around the world today. The main six that people tend to focus on are Primal, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. This isn 't all that are practiced, but these are the main ones we have focused and narrowed down to study about during class this semester. The first one we started to talk about was Primal religion. Coming into the class I didn 't know much about Primal religions at all. There was a tremendous amount of history behind this religion. Primal religion came before any other world religion, which explains its name. “Primal” means primitive or original so this shows us why it would be the first religion before the others in ancient history.

There are nine hundred million people world wide who follow it today. Unlike most world religions, Hinduism has no single founder or no commonly agreed set of teachings. Hinduism is also known to be split into two large groups of people, the indus valley civilization and the indo- european Aryans. There are so many important points about Hinduism. A key factor of the Hinduism religion is that they believe in Karma and Samsara. Karma can mean many things but it basically is the law of cause and effect governing our lives (Kessler162). Its coupled up with the idea of rebirth also known as samsara. How karma tends to work is that what we do in this life will determine our next reincarnation. Which leads us into the caste system, which eventually the constitution made illegal. The caste system is linked to the ideas of karma and samsara, meaning if you do good you will move higher up in the caste system, but if you do bad then you will move down the caste system. The higher you are in the system the better your reincarnation would be. This is a huge deal in Hinduism because most if not all people who follow hinduism base their lives off of this idea. A major difference between Hinduism and the other world religions is that Hinduism doesn 't just focus on one scripture, it focuses on three. The three main scriptures are the Vedas, The upanishads, and the Baguvad Gita. The vedas are poems for sacrifice, it stands for wisdom, while the upanishads or forest sages are a spiritual interpretation. It is the monistic strand and means all is one reality. Last but not least the Baguvad Gita stands for the song of the lord and focusses mainly on the caste duty and a personal God connecting it to the Bhakti strand which also focusses on a personal devotion to God.
