Throughout the school day, what are most students doing during their time? Yes, the inquisitive student may be learning, studying, and diligently working, but what are they actually doing during all of these activities that they may not realize is practically killing them? The answer to this question is a fatal result, which is simply sitting. Besides walking from class to class every 45 minutes for four minutes at a time, the students are sitting back in their desk, not engaging in any physical activity, and this can lead to many pernicious health effects, which no one needs and especially not at such a young age. Furthermore, this issue is exactly what “The Price We Pay for Sitting Too Much” brings about. This article stated that for every half-hour working in an office, people should sit for 20 minutes, stand for eight minutes, and then move around and stretch for two minutes (Reddy). This statistic caused me to immediately brainstorm about ways to stand more, and “Sports Sitting Will Kill Us All” had one clever idea, which was instead of laying on the couch and watching the game, you could stand. Then I began to think, I could stand, stretch, and walk around while I am reading. I can take a small break every 20 minutes from doing homework or watching the television to just stand up.
