Hillary Clinton Debate

The presidential election is what takes up a majority of the news right now. What is hitting headlines even more at the moment is the first presidential debate. I read the editorial, “Clinton Puts Trump on Defense at First Debate”, which discusses the ins and outs of the debate. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton went head to head on Monday, September 26th. The author addresses the highlights of the first presidential debate which included taxes, including Donald Trump’s own taxes, the war in Iraq, Trump’s remarks toward women, how to handle police brutality, race relations, and others.

The author, Stephen Collinson, starts off by stating that Donald Trump was starting to lead the presidential race, but Hillary Clinton had a strong

I would also have to agree with his one this point. There are also polls to support this opinion. “A CNN/ORC poll of debate watchers released after the event found 62% felt Clinton won compared to 27% for Trump.”. In the beginning of the debate Trump was strong with his arguments. He made good points about the economy and jobs. But further in the debate Trump seemed to make a few false claims. Along with the fact that further into the debate Trump seemed to lose his temperament, even though he claims the opposite. Collinson stated, “he made inaccurate statements on everything from laws regarding policing, his support for the Iraq War and his contention that Clinton was behind the so-called birther conspiracy.” After the debate Trump claimed he was happy with the outcome of the debate. Trump told CNN’s Dana Bash, “It went better than I ever …show more content…
The other editorials I have read, that gave an opinion of a winner, also said that Hillary Clinton “won” the debate. I would have to say I agree with these editorials. I think Hillary Clinton stayed calm and composed. She stated some good points while Trump yelled out “Wrong!” while Clinton was speaking. Trump started out strong and composed but I think he lost his temperament throughout the night. He accused Clinton of not having a good temperament but from the debate that I watched I witnessed the opposite. As the other editorials have stated, along with Tory Newmyer, Trump came out strong in the beginning, but it soon went downhill from there. Newmyer stated that, “Clinton moved from the start to stick Trump in his softest spot: his business dealing.” Trump is all about his businesses and investments. Along with all the other editorials I have read Newmyer also brought up the point that Trump might be avoiding releasing his tax returns because he is hiding something. Clinton said, “Maybe he doesn’t want the American people, all of you watching tonight, to know that he’s paid nothing in federal taxes.” All of America heard Trump confirm this allegation. Trump blurted out, “That makes me smart.” From here the debate was downhill for Mr. Trump. I also agree that there might be something Trump is hiding when he comes to his taxes. Why will

This question is essential to the understanding of what the candidates do, when they are asked a serious question. Clinton goes on to tell the women what a great question this was and then instead of answering her question head on, she directs the audience elsewhere by stating what makes america good. Unfortunately, Clinton is not the only one who does this, Trump repeatedly does this and he even has an extreme case of this, when the news reporter asked him if he had ever sexually assaulted a women. Trump manages to direct the conversation towards terrorism, which is an important topic among America that people feel strongly about, so he is essentially just appealing to their side of fear or hate. Next, the second most common fallacy committed in the debate was loaded question.…

Presidential elections have been a time where many American citizens have gathered to vote for their favorite candidate, but the upcoming presidential nomination, has created controversy with its leading candidates. Presidents have been nominated due to their views on policies such as Abraham Lincoln on slavery. However, a lot has been discussed about who’s going to be the elected president this following November, will it be Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton, former secretary of state, has shown persistence since the 2008 election, decided to run for office, by hopefully, being the first woman president. Where Clinton depended on facts and personal testimonials, Trump had thrown in ad hominem fallacies and had avoided answering questioned posed towards him. For example, on the topic of abortion, Trump was asked if he would want the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. Instead of answering the question, he had insisted that the issue would go back to the state level instead of establishing his position on the legality of abortion at the federal level. He had also deflected the question of immigration and his proposed legislation in establishing a wall by attacking Clinton and accusing her of voting for a wall as well. However, after fact checking this information, Trump’s definition of a wall was by any means, broad, seeing as how Clinton voted for legislation that created porous fences that allowed owners to access their land on both sides of the established…

I believe Hilary Clinton won the final presidential debate. Clinton’s performance was more persuasive than Trump’s because she spoke with sophistication and intelligences. This country can go in two directions. The first way is up, with Clintons ideas and views I believe our country can become great and everything from trade to economy can thrive. The second way is down, with Trumps and his ideas to build a wall to keep immigrants out and his lack of commence sense and human decency.…

Interestingly, this also may have been Trump’s best performance. Trump appeared more presidential than he has ever appeared, though that is not saying much. He rarely attacked or insulted people (though he did get mad at the audience, claiming they were planted to boo him), refused to draw red lines, and even made some good points, such as drawing attention to the use of eminent domain in the Keystone XL pipeline (though, he lost that exchange in the conventional…

For instance, something that is always being brought up upon these two candidates are the release of Donald Trumps tax returns and Hilary Clintons deleted emails. Trumps refused to release his tax returns but the question is why? In the Final presidential debate Hilary states that Donald Trump is the first candidate who hasn 't released his tax reports. In Politifact article by Louis Jacobson, he states that, “ It is true that Trump 's businesses have received a lot of attention, but without the release of Trump 's tax returns.” Trump does not want to release his tax returns due to possibilities of facing criticism.…

The Vice Presidential debate that occurred on October 4th 2016 was important to people across the united states. It is clear that many citizens are undecided on who to vote for, the point of this debate was to give clarity to voters and to reassure the American people of their views. I was hoping this debate would be better than the presidential debate however it seemed to be the same; Tim Kaine interrupting and Mike Pence constantly being on the defense. Despite the interruptions both candidates made a few good points that are essential to consider when making a decision. Both sides made strong arguments.…

The second presidential debate was at the Washington University in St. Louis. The moderators for the debate were CNN’s Anderson Cooper and ABC’s Martha Raddatz. The debate was divided into six 15 minute segments, with topics about immigration, national security, health care and many more. In the beginning of the debate a member from the audience asked each candidate if “they feel that they are modeling appropriate and positive behavior for today’s youth, knowing that educators assign viewing the presidential debates as student’s homework?” Each candidate completely ignored the question and went off topic.…

The Presidential Debate In the presidential debate on October 9th 2016 the candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump were asked questions by the audience that they had picked out and some were from social media. Hillary brought up the video of Donald from eleven years ago when he talked about women in a derogatory way, and it was said that he had did it to women also. Candidate Trump was then asked if he had ever done what was said about women to women and he responded that he had not. He did apologize to the people of the United States and to his family for the rude comments and he regrets saying them.…

Trump kills two birds with one stone in that line alone. He says that Bernie Sanders is a maniac and therefore, Hilary must be as well because they share similar views. Trump even goes as far as saying that he would call Sanders a communist, he plays to the crowds side by saying that the democrats are, "going to tax you people at 90%, [they will] take everything!"…

Five presidential candidates took to the stage on October 13th in Las Vegas, Nevada for the first Democratic Debate moderated by Anderson Cooper. A large percentage of American voters were surprised to learn how many candidates would be on the debate stage considering the polls and media have been dominated by only two candidates. Hillary Clinton the former Secretary of State, and Senator Bernie Sanders a self-described Socialist were joined by three virtually unheard-of candidates: Martin O'Malley the former Governor of Maryland, Lincoln Chaffee the former Rhode Island Governor, and Jim Webb, a US veteran and former Senator from Virginia. This debate was the first and potentially last opportunity for some of the candidates to make a name for…

I always knew that Trump was not a good candidate for the presidency, but the day of the debate, my thoughts about him were fully confirmed. Clinton did good in this debate, better than Trump. She knew how to respond to the questions very well, which made it seemed that she prepared for this day, and Trump didn 't. I noticed that at the beginning of the debate, Trump seemed secure of what he was talking about, but when Clinton started to talk more about her ideas, he got lost.
