Every four years, a politician is chosen by to become the leader of the United States. This is perhaps one of the most powerful and demanding jobs in the world, and in 2016, US citizens get to elect the president of the United States. The president is one of the most influential and well recognized figures in the world, and voters go through a long process to find out which candidate is best suited for the job. Having this much responsibility is a big job, and the president must realize this. Lyndon B. Johnson, the 36th president of The United States once said, "A president 's hardest task is not to do what is right, but to know what is right." Some people might believe that all the president does is go to meetings and make speeches, but there’s a lot more too it than that. One role of the president is the Chief of State. This includes awarding medals, greeting politicians from other countries, and giving patriotic speeches during the Fourth of July. Second is the Chief Executive, where the president helps run the Executive Branch. Some jobs that come with this role include, appointing someone to run the CIA, and to hold Cabinet meetings (Jantzen). The president would also meet with other countries to discuss foreign policy. This is called the Chief Diplomat. An example of this is having to fly to Russia to meet with Putin about the Ukraine war. The fourth role of the president is the Commander in Chief.
