The president of the United States of America is one of the most influential individuals in the world and by far one of the most recognizable. Being the president of the United States comes with great prestige and responsibility, because not only is the president the head of the government but also the state. Hence, why millions of Americans and people from around the world tune in to watch the US presidential election coverage. The year leading to the elections “therefore, [are] critical for the recruitment of candidates and for the operation of the political system.”
For an individual to be considered a potential candidate for the presidency, they must have certain qualifications. The American “constitution lists only three qualifications for the Presidency — the President must be 35 years of age, be a natural born citizen, and must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years.” The requirements are fairly simple to meet, however, under the twenty-second amendment no individual “shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.” If an individual is convicted of impeachment by the Senate, consequentially they are also disqualified from running for office and "[will] be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and…
