Reflection Of A Presentation

overall I believe that my presentation went very well. This is because of the visuals used, the examples I presented, the tone of the presentation, and my overall knowledge of the subject. Using the feedback summary that I got from my students, I can safely say that my presentation was very successful. However, there are a few key areas of the presentation that I would improve for future use, and there are also a few things that I would do to make the application experience better for all participants. Firstly, I believe that my presentation went well because of the visuals that I used. I attempted to make my presentation viewer-friendly by using a slides template that had a speech box; I thought that this worked well with an advertising-based …show more content…
I tried to use a variety of examples that covered multiple topics, so that each advertisement would be able recognizable and understood by each student. I believe that the best example I used was the “bad” advertisement video. The reason that this video was effective is due to the fact that I find it is far easier to explain to someone what went wrong and how to fix it, than what went well and why it works. I also believe that this video was an effective example since it was humorous and was a satire. Since this video was a satire, it was made glaringly obvious what the issues were, and it made it far easier for the students to pick out some of the main issues. I also believe that the advertisement examples I used were still effective, though they were not as over-the-top as the video; I believe that the ads I used are a good example of color use, font choice, or image placement, all of which help them stand out and grab the viewer's attention. As I said in the presentation itself, the content of the ads was far less important in comparison to how the ad was able to draw your attention and keep it. I also believe that my example of fonts and font styles were also very effective for the students as, the next day after the presentation, I heard students using the terms sans serif and serif while discussing what font they should use. Finally, I believe that the examples I used were effective because of their relevance to the project. Considering that the summative project for these students is based upon governmental advertising, I made sure to include real government advertisements so that the students had an idea of what made a government ad effective, however, I also used product advertisements to show some of the more common traits that lie between them. To summarise, I believe that my presentation was further enhanced by the examples I

Did you know that the average person sees about 5,000 ads a day! That is about 5 a minute! In this new consumer market companies are constantly fighting one another for customers and looking for any angle that can make them stand out. This means that companies need to make their advertisements memorable because if they don’t they will quickly be forgotten about and the ad would be a waste of money. However, once they have your attention then they can make their pitch and hopefully sell you on buying new insurance or a politicians vote.…

My outside speaker critique I attended a class where my introduction to supply chain management professor brought in Andrew Goltra who is currently the Director of Merchandising at ULine. Andrew’s presentation took about an hour or so. Andrew Goltra was a very good speaker, but there was definitely some room for improvement based off what I have learned about with presentation best practices. I could have a long list of both good and bad aspects during his presentation, but for the sake of this assignment I’m going to focus on five aspects from his speech that involved both good and bad practices. The pros of Andrew Goltra’s presentation include: how he established his credibility, usage of visual aids, and his delivery; The cons of the presentation…

The message of our project is to buy Sticky Socks instead of ordinary socks. We used many common advertising techniques. Our main adverting technique was name calling or appeal to guilt because we kept talking about how Sticky Socks are safer than ordinary socks. We used the adverting techniques of testimonial by featuring Justin Bieber saying positive things about Sticky Socks. We also used card stacking by having Dr. Amy Blakenhooper tell us how dangerous ordinary socks are on the hardwood floor.…

I clearly passed messages on what I am going to inform audiences i.e. set speech purpose, and separated speech major parts developing main points. I also attempted engagement with audiences by asking questions to make them feel they are articulated in the conversation/discussion as the vital component. All of these things are my strengths. Certainly, these aren’t enough strengths to make a speech the best. Reviewing self-presented video going through it a few times, I found out supporting materials were missing, sub-points were not clearly mentioned, and proper transitions were not made to maintain the chronological flow of information.…

    1. I believe there were some positive aspects of my speech. Firstly, I was not a nervous when speaking in front of the audience. This allowed me to have the speech flow smoother than last time. I was not expecting the audience to be as large as it was this time; but I think the increase of people might have helped easy some of my anxiety.…

I decided to use this advertisement display by a local auto shop in my neighborhood, a couple blocks down from my house. The auto shop is located on the corner of a major intersection with many people coming and going to get to where they need to be. The advertisement is seen by thousands of people a day because of its location amongst the other shops and business in the area. Having such a prime location has many benefits and one of those benefits includes being able to display an advertisement enticing customers to come and spend their money at this auto care establishment. There had to be thought put into the advertisement because it will be seen by so many people that there had to be a plan on how to business would portray the company and convey a message to outside consumers that this is a trusted establishment that will treat your property with care.…

Advertisements can be found all over the city no matter where you look. They can be presented by television commercials, print ads on billboards, Internet websites, and even the radio. The reasoning behind these ads is to persuade and argue why their product is more important than others. Sometimes these arguments can be used to persuade certain ideas that people think are right or wrong, and cause an argument socially, politically, or even religiously. Imagine this, it’s 1 a.m. and rearing to the end of the night with you and your friends.…

It was the Thursday before my speech that I was finally was able to get all the materials for my SHIELD, where I began work on my SHIELD. I hadn’t exactly thought everything out before I began work that night, so there were a few rough patches. First of all, all I knew is that I wanted to have a soccer ball shield. I also went on a trip with my family on Saturday and Sunday, so I couldn’t really start my SHIELD until Sunday night. This was extremely unfortunate because my SHIELD required more work than I planned on.…

Many people today, including myself have been self-conscious about how they look. In a video by Cameron Russel, she talks about how looks are not everything. Cameron gives us hope in her video because she knows exactly how many people feel about their bodies and maybe even more because she is a model. In her video she talks about her life growing up and how she was lucky to become a model.…

If a consumer knows what they are looking at and understand what the advertisement is saying or trying to say then they might be more cautious when looking at the advertisements and media in today’s world. The articles “With These Words I Can Sell You Anything” by William Lutz and “The Language of Advertising” by Charles O’Neill explains the use of advertisement and the effect on the target audience. Through the credibility of both authors, the diction they use and how they use it and the tone of both of the authors state their stance and knowledge about the topic of advertising. Overall I do believe that O’Neill’s article is the most effective. O’Neill was very to the point on what he needed to say about advertising.…

A personal favorite of mine are the State Farm commercials about The Hooper’s. State Farm went out and had professional basketball players promote their company by acting out a commercial. By a consumer watching this, it might attract them into checking out State Farm as a potential insurance company. This promoting helps not just the company, but also the athletes acting out the commercial because personally some of the commercials seemed humorous. This reminds the consumer that if they find something appealing because of the person promoting the product that they can look into it and potentially buy/invest into…

The learning experience that I have chosen to discuss about is preparing for the poster presentations. During this experience, I had to identify and explain the benefits and challenges of inter- professional practice. This was the question that me and my group were given, and we had to deliver it in a presentation format to an audience, which was my class. To go about doing this, I had use and deliver a range of skills and apply it to practice in order to prepare for the presentation. According to Kolb’s Experimental Learning Cycle, (1984), it articulates in the first stage about concrete experience, where me and my group were assigned a task, which consisted of active involvement.…

Reflection About Classroom Teaching Experience Being an educator is a challenge and a new learning experience each time. As an educator, I am entrusted with the responsibility of shaping the way students think and feel in the classroom. I have always wanted to be an educator and share my experiences with the new generation of nurses. When I was assigned to work with professor Lynette Rayman to do my classroom teaching experience, I was thrilled because the topic I chose was chronic kidney disease which also happens to be my area of expertise. I had to incorporate my previous learning experiences to make my presentation lively.…

Persuading is a major component to advertisements, and one could say that companies get their persuasion techniques from a famous philosopher named Aristotle. Aristotle has three techniques for persuasion: Logos, Pathos, and Ethos. Companies use these strategies to support their primary message – what Aristotle would call “Enthymeme.” The short 17-second skit commercial advertisement…
