I tried to use a variety of examples that covered multiple topics, so that each advertisement would be able recognizable and understood by each student. I believe that the best example I used was the “bad” advertisement video. The reason that this video was effective is due to the fact that I find it is far easier to explain to someone what went wrong and how to fix it, than what went well and why it works. I also believe that this video was an effective example since it was humorous and was a satire. Since this video was a satire, it was made glaringly obvious what the issues were, and it made it far easier for the students to pick out some of the main issues. I also believe that the advertisement examples I used were still effective, though they were not as over-the-top as the video; I believe that the ads I used are a good example of color use, font choice, or image placement, all of which help them stand out and grab the viewer's attention. As I said in the presentation itself, the content of the ads was far less important in comparison to how the ad was able to draw your attention and keep it. I also believe that my example of fonts and font styles were also very effective for the students as, the next day after the presentation, I heard students using the terms sans serif and serif while discussing what font they should use. Finally, I believe that the examples I used were effective because of their relevance to the project. Considering that the summative project for these students is based upon governmental advertising, I made sure to include real government advertisements so that the students had an idea of what made a government ad effective, however, I also used product advertisements to show some of the more common traits that lie between them. To summarise, I believe that my presentation was further enhanced by the examples I
