The Reconstruction era was the time period after the civil war in the United States. This period lasted for about ten years; moreover, the country was in the condition of rebuilding. The commodity of money was not worth anything for instance bonds or stocks. Cities in the United States laid in devastation and, thousands of American citizens were deceased. However cities in the south were completely destroyed and needed rebuilding. Also, they needed to bring back the cotton industry back to life which they had lost.
