The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan is a novel based on the gods of Egyptian Mythology. It is actioned packed and quite interesting. The power of words is a subject the reader always thinks about while reading a novel. In this novel it is used countless times over and over again with a different message each time from important and strong characters. The power of words is used in battle, for romantic and friendly reasons and to create the plot of the novel. It is also used by two different people and that is the gods and the magicians. This proves that powerful people use powerful and meaningful words. The power of words is used lots in the heat of battle. The Protagonists Carter and Sadie have to save the world and come across many enemies while trying to awake Ra, the God of the Sun. This involves the magicians and not the gods. The good magicians always try to save their friends and family. Carter and Sadie words in battle Are always “let him go” or “don’t touch him’’. Words are used in a romantic way too like when Carter saves Zia but she doesn’t remember anything of their past and he says he liked her and that they had a good past. Carter and Sadie care for each other more than anything imaginable. They use words to argue over and over again about who’s right or wrong but you can tell deep down that they care for each other beyond words because besides there uncle and their grandparent, they only have each other left. One last romance in this novel is between Sadie and Walt. This doesn’t use the power of words as much as the other ideas but it is still worth mentioning because Walt suffers from an incurable curse and is in love with Sadie.
