My hands were shaky, I felt sweat appearing on my forehead, my body would not move, and I indeed could hear my heart beating loudly. When I was performing I was extremely flat and not showing a bunch of emotion. In my mind I kept telling myself again and again to, “calm down” but it would simply grow worse. I tried a breathing technique but that didn’t work. That’s when I decided if I should run out of the class, or just sit there in embarrassment.…

Since I was born I have always dealt with a speech impediment. I went to speech therapy from the age 5 to 13. As I got older started going less and less to speech therapy but I would still go at least twice a month. Th reason behind my speech impediment is because I can not breath out of nose, which is very key whenever you are talking. I have improved greatly over the years to the point where people tell that I have done my whole life that they can not even tell I had a speech impediment at one time.…

You are in class one day when the teacher announces a new assignment: students are to research and give an informative speech about any topic of their choosing. As the student, imagine that you are terrified to not only present the speech in front of your entire class, but to have to go through the process of picking a topic, researching it, organizing your speech, and practicing it as well.
