The strongest of all the warriors are these two- time and patience: Leo Tolstoy
Understanding patience:
Patience is the most under-utilized as well as the most misunderstood concept for an average human being but the combined power of patience, hard work plus smart work is nothing short of a miracle.
For the vast majority of people, say 80% of the entire human population, when they think or hear about patience, they believe that its about waiting i.e. you keep waiting till eternity (in short, the waiting never ends). There is some truth in that line of thinking but it is only a half truth.
Patience redefined:
The other half of patience besides waiting, then waiting some more is to strive, to struggle as well as to endeavor for making things happen.

So, you can say that there is no effect without any cause. To bring about the desired effect, you have to act, which translates into the desired effect.
For true success, failure is inevitable:
Therefore, if you want to achieve something big, like becoming a millionaire by the age of 30, earning a doctorate degree in mathematics or excelling in gymnastics to become an Olympic gold medalist, you have to put in hard work, smart work plus have lots of patience because contrary to what most people think, aiming for big goals is a journey full of failures-small as well as big.
So, unless you have the drive, determination as well as persistence to keep on going even when everything appears uncertain or seems hopeless, then failure is the only outcome.
Success in relation to failure:
But if you persist, if you persevere in the face of failures (aka setbacks), then there is a good chance that you will accomplish whatever you set your sights
