Break Down Quarrel

EXT. THE BREAKDOWN LANE ON A DESERTED HIGHWAY- NIGHT

A red car pulls into the lane shaking barely moving at all. Two girls walk out of the car looking annoyed. The passenger is DANI and the driver is JANE. Both are wearing concert Tees. Two boys are in the back seat of the car not getting out JAX and FINN.

DANI
(Kicking the tire)
Piece of junk.

JANE
Don’t kick her Dani, she tried her best.

DANI
(tired)
Her best got us stuck in east nowhere. Can you call someone?

JANE
(Smiling)
Well, maybe we should’ve taken your car. Oh wait, you failed all three of your drives test. Sorry, I forgot about that.

DANI
(Passive aggressive)
Yeah like how you always forget your wallet when we go out to eat.

JANE

They take all our stuff. He takes my stuff. Why Finn tell me Why! Why my tv! Why my food! Why my best friend!

DANI gets quiet releasing what she said.

JANE
(No longer aggressive)
What are you talking about?

DANI
JAX’s right. You guys never spend any time apart anymore. I miss my best friend. Honestly, I don’t mind paying for your meals anymore, because at least it’s just the two of us.

JANE
I understand we should spend time together but, Dani I should be able to spend time with my boyfriend without my best friend feeling jealous.

JAX
But it’s not just you guys hanging out. Like just the other day. Finn and I were going to the movies. Finn, I made the plans with you. Never once did I say “Oh Finn bring Jane” and you never even said she was coming. We go to leave and she just shows up.

JANE
How is that my fault? Finn invited me.

JAX
The problem wasn’t you! It’s the fact that Finn can’t even go to the movies without you anymore. Then the whole time you guys were like cuddling and kissing each other. I felt like a third wheel on a night that was just supposed to be me and my friend.

DANNI
We use to have girls night Jane. Now we don’t even have a night in the apartment without

My friends and I have been having a hard week and we wanted to just relax so I suggested to them my lake house house. They wanted a little bit more rustic feel to camping but none of us really had any actual camping gear so we just opted for the lake house. We got all the essentials for the weekend: bug repellent, snacks, a radio, and a friendly little card game to take our minds off the world back at home. Everything was going smooth until it hit about six-ish, that’s when everything just seemed to get a little bit more stressful. When, at the store, we got everything a girl could ask for and then some, we got brownies, chips, stuff to make milkshakes, ect.…

The shot starts off comedic, as Jim impersonates a police siren and is told to stop by a sergeant holding a comically-small coffee cup. Jim sits – or rather, is unceremoniously flopped – in a shoe-shining chair with a price-list and a broom hanging behind him, which adds to showing his childishness. However, this shot takes a dramatic turn rather quickly as the camera pans over to Plato with his maid standing close to him, creating a sense of intimacy, contrasting what we just saw in the opening. Jim overhears Plato’s maid say that the boy is shivering and immediately shows his mature side by offering Plato his jacket. His stance changes drastically, from relaxed and spread out, to a more serious, adult-like posture.…

Journal 3: Writing Arguments • Definition Arguments Because I am a visual learner and like to see how something is done before I do it, I really liked this chapter; there are lots of visuals, charts, and example essays. I think it was smart to start this section with this chapter because you can start off many of your essays with a definition and it gives different examples of types of definitions to use. The chart for steps to writing a definition argument will be very useful. • Causal Arguments Before this chapter I had never heard of a causal argument. The introduction to this chapter provided a thought provoking topic about the American school system falling behind other nations’ school systems.…

Growing up, I noticed, when approached with conflict, my sisters and my mother would often state that they did not want to talk about it or would simply leave the room. I now have a phrase for this: the exit response. For us, the exit response was always temporary. If the problem was serious, it would eventually be brought back up; if it wasn’t, then things usually got better on its own. While my dad is often the first to use the voice response, I have noticed that my dad often chooses the loyalty response, too.…
