In Leah Sottile’s article, The New Internet Honesty, she talks about how the hashtag #TBH on social media platforms has made honesty a new trend on the internet. Though in the article when she talks to her twelve-year-old niece about #TBH and how honest they actually are when using the hashtag, Sottile writes, “For people she doesn’t know well, it’s hard to be honest. ‘You just say, like, ‘you’re pretty and you seem nice,’ she says.” Even though this internet trend was supposed to promote honesty, most of the time the honesty is disingenuous and vague.
