People support this viewpoint because education is expanding with technology. For example, many schools now provide students with chromebooks, tablets, iPads, etc as a learning tool for easy access for research, communicating with teachers, and doing other interactions in class. Many acknowledge that social networking is an easy way to keep in touch with people you don’t get to see often to keep updated with their lives. Of course there are positives to every solution, however in this case there are more negatives demonstrated in social networking. Of course there are educational benefits, but social networking is more distracting than beneficial. Students can go online, play games, and watch videos on these chromebooks, tablets, iPads, etc. while the teacher is teaching in class. (“Cons of Digital Devices in the Classroom” 1). It might be helpful with staying in touch with people, but when people are constantly on social networking checking statuses and getting addicted to these sites are causing serious problems in our society. Social networking has caused many problems of addiction, cyber stalking predators, and most of all a huge distraction from school, work and relationships. We can fix these problems by making smart decisions on what personal information to post and making all accounts private to become less vulnerable of predators. Another solution is to be disciplined and take some screen time away. It is good to still have real relationships with people, not just social networking relationships. Just like checking your phone every couple of minutes when doing homework, 70% of people said they check their smartphone before an hour of getting up.
