B. Birthplace of the interviewee was Springfield, MN. He stated that it’s a tiny town that most people have not heard of. Which was correct in my case, because I have not heard of the town Springfield. He was born in November at the Springfield Hospital because that was the closest town to his hometown of Sanborn, MN. Interviewee lived in Sanborn his whole entire life until he moved to the nursing home three years ago. He said that is was a nice little town, everyone was very friendly, and if everyone was home there was about 500 people that lived in the town. He also stated that everyone got along for the most part and all the kids would play together that lived on the same block or within a couple of blocks.

Interviewee said that farming was a good but hard living. His parents emphasized the value of good style of living, which meant, you work hard for what you want, and you be honest and true to yourself. Interviewee also stated that his family tradition was to have duck for Christmas and Thanksgiving. Even after he was not living at home, interviewee still carried on the tradition of having duck for the holidays. When he was living at home he stated, “my brother and I had to work hard to keep up the farm.” Interviewee helped his mother in the kitchen doing the dishes, making food, and doing the wash. His brother helped his father outside with farm work because he was ten years older and he was able to do more work!
