The Politics of Abortion: Pro-Choice v. Pro-Life

Abstract
Abortion is one of the leading controversial topics in the country. There are two sides to this argument: Pro-choice and Pro-life. In this paper, we will discuss the main differences as well of the arguments of both sides. Furthermore, the paper will go into detail on why abortion should be kept legal throughout the United States.

When it comes to the topic, the Pro-Choice look at all the factors when a woman is considering an abortion. They look toward the greater good of the fetus and the mother. To debunk some of the arguments presented earlier when combing through the Pro-Life arguments, the same points will be used here. Where the Pro-Life believe that life begins at contraception, the Pro-Choice believe otherwise. Yes, life begins at contraception, scientifically speaking, but the embryo is that just an embryo. In this phase, the embryo has potential to become a human, but it is not guaranteed. Meaning that until the egg is placed in the uterus lining, there is no pregnancy. Many of the Pro-Choice use this reason to prove to the Pro-Life that personhood has not yet started. To say an embryo is alive with rights would be true to other major organs as well. Many of the times the Pro-Life end up confusing basic biology with what personhood is (Jacobson, 2012). That being said, abortion is not violating the federal laws mentioned earlier. It is a woman's choice on whether or not she wants to go through with the procedure. In the end, it is all about what is right for your family and situation. People should not force women into the corner because of what they believe. References
